nitro...there's an awfull lot of drama going on in the NHRA! The Bazemore, KB, Ray Alley, and John Force issue just to name a few.

Baze may have a lot of detractors, but I've always liked him. The KB/Ray Alley funny car deal sure seams to have pissed off a lot of people. Personally, I think he(KB)should stay retired. What else does he have to prove? Seams that JF was so unhappy about, he resigned from the PRO!

I'll be curious to see what happens this coming weekend at Maple Grove.

This is why it is called silly season.

donDon is a business man. He is in the sport to make money. He needed to show whit that any monkey could drive that car. He should have done it before splitting with Lee Beard.

It seems he cannot control whit talking to people while he is under contract behind his back so what else can he do than to not invite him to the last races of silly season and make him buy his own plane ticket and weekend pass to get to the race.

Rumor is that Baze is headed with MATCO to the rail deal.. maybe that was the plan all along......DS has been looking for a way to get rid of him since he and RC don't get along.... maybe this way everyone could save face.... and be all politicaly correct......

For all Bazes faults .. he did get alot of TV time for MATCO win or loose on the track..... whats the old saying... good news is great but bad news gets you attention alot longer....

Your Absolutly Right...it'll be better without Whit! He represents everything wrong with Compitition! He complains, Whines, and is just an Arrogent Jerk! Whit did not get FIRED! Don simply gave a DESERVING Driver a great chance. Oh, btw...There isn't anything in Jack's Body, Mind, Spirit, or anything else to hate... remember the dude is a grass roots racer is I've ever seen one! He has taught over 1,000 people how to drive Dragsters at Frank Hawley's School, Including Force's Daughters and Wife Laurie! Oh, yeah...Also ME! He is a great guy and well deserving of this opportunity! ....Whit is gonna go to Powers next year, and Shoe followed the MTS money from Roger Comstock and Jack Beckman. It was a Business move! If ya wanna hate someone in Funny Car....May I suggust the Pedregon Brothers...After all, John seems to have them in his "CRAW" ever since 1992!

I love when all these crybabies complain about whits atitude, remindes me of the snake but i suppose he was all thats wrong about competition also?! And if you think shoe got a better driver your out of your mind. Why else would force have considered hiring baze a couple of years ago? Whit wants to win periode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ::mad:

Don, if you keep on coming here standing up to for yourself, I might start liking you. There's nothing worse than a cry baby that can't take the heat. I commend you for that.

I don't think this move was about taking Bazemore out of the seat as much as it's about the relationship between DSR and Matco. Bazemore coming out of that car was just an aftermath event.

Matco wasn't happy with the situation with the race team for whatever reason, they felt they needed to go in a different direction with their primary sponsorship and told Don that at Indy. Don just want's to race and do whatever he has to do to get a sponsor for that car next year.

That's where the facts end and speculation begins.

Beckman just happened to be in the right place at the right time, who know's if any of that's going to work out for him or not. All we know is that for the next five races, he will be driving that FC.

Bazemore is going to be fine, he now has time to get another ride put together for next year. As has been said by all three parties involved (Matco, DSR and Baze), this was a mutual decision. If all three of them are happy with the decision, then I can live with it too.

Matco Tools will be involved with my teams for years to come so forget about it that I made a decision on Whit based on getting back at them.

Don, I wasn't trying to imply that you were getting back at Matco, sorry if you took it that way. I was trying to use a voice of reason for a change, all I said was that this whole move seems to be an effort by DSR to find a new primary sponsor for that car for next year, that's all. Beyond that is pure speculation by everyone that doesn't know the specific things that are going on behind the scene's.

Maybe I need a beer and chill out, people are blowing this whole thing out of proportion including the car owner apparently. I'll come back after the dust settles and people are thinking with a clear head and with less emotions.

By the start of next season, Whit's going to have a new ride, DSR is going to have four FC's, a new primary sponsor and Matco apparently as a secondary sponsor for all the teams. And last but not least, Matco is going to be happy all the way around with all their sponsorships, "it's all good".

Now where's that beer.....................

Hey Don would you consider Fed Ex a "conflict of interest" sponsor since you'll have MTS onboard? What would you do if a big offer came from a "CONFLICTING Sponsor" to your team? For Example..What if the US NAVY came to you and said they'd offer you $10,000,000 per year for just the Top Fuel car? If Fed Ex came to you and said....Hey, we want a top fuel dragster and funny car, and would bring you a 6 million + budget?Hey thanks for hangin out in an internet forum with us "WANNA BE" PRO Racers.... Definatly shows that your all about us "LITTLE GUYS!"

Who/what is MTS?
Sorry I'm not in the loop.

Aside from that, some reasons Whit won't finish the season:

#1 Matco is leaving DSR.

If you were Don and your contract with Matco said "put a Matco logo on a funny car" through '06, and since Matco already announced they would not be back with DSR (not a classy move on Matco's part), would you care if the Matco car finished strong? (If you were Don) Or would you rather give a driver who is bringing money to the team some seat time under real world conditions on Matco's dollar? So long as the car says Matco on the side Don still completes his contract.

#2 Does not play well with others.

Whit had a history of being, well ..........anti-social.
Sorry whit, it's a fact you were on probation when you threw that timing block at the ESPN cameraman. You were also on probation while you were involved with Ron Capps. We don't really know the circumstances, but seeing how Ron= Mr. Clean, I'm led to believe it might be Whit's fault.

#3 Money!

According to an issue of Car&Driver I read, Don was quoted as saying:

"My drivers are paid $300,000." -I might be off on that-
Imagine for a second you were Don, rather than pay someone 300K, you could have someone else pay you 300K to drive the same car.

Mr. Beckman you are hired, you start tomorrow!

Thats just what I think..............

MTS is the mail service that is sponsoring Beckman with 1.5 million next season.

That was pretty much the response on Blazeblog about receiving a check from a Driver that is significantly more than what he was paying the current driver.

As far as matco goes, I really dont know what to make of it. If Matco sponsored the car through 06 and wanted Blaze to drive through the rest of the year they would have made Don keep whit in the car.

The deeper it goes about keeping whit out of the cars is simply the championship. Putting Beckman in that car over the final races will guarantee smoked tires if he or Scelzi goes up against Capps. If Blaze is in the other lane and the crew chief is told to set the clutch timers to hit immediate tiresmoke, Blaze would tell us about it on the big end because you know he would be getting interviewed. Team orders already started in the dragster camp, they are about to begin with the funny cars. Plus it will keep capps head a bit clearer not worrying about what blaze is gonna do or say to him in the heat of competition. Also in Whits blog is him saying he will not be at the races the rest of the year. If he is truly looking for a job, he would be nosing around to get some conversations going with powers or other teams that may be interested. That might be a condition of leaving on good terms and getting that final 50,000 in pay from Don don.

The only question about this are the rumors that capps wont return to dsr next year. I think don thinks he needs to deliver him the championship to keep him and brut happy.

Look, Matco is the last party to blame for this, they sponsored that car through the END of 06', not for 18 races in 06'. They had expectations of winning a championship too, and DS was more interested in the Oakley car last year winning and the Brut car this year, and that (someone famous once said) "is the bottom line". Matco got screwed over by DS and he has his head stuck in the sand if he thinks otherwise. He switched crew chiefs and other team members over and over again and put them on the other teams so they would win. Matco was sick of being kicked around and used as some sort of evil stepchild, DS never gave them the chance to win.

I can't figure out why DS was so suprised at Indy when Matco told him they were pulling out, after all the crap he pulled on that team, he had to know it was coming.

Powers must have assured Matco that the two rails there would race straight up, unlike DSR where everyone is expected to follow team orders. Lee Beard must be pretty happy about this as he is moving into the new car, and guess where he came from? And if the rumor is true and Matco does desire Whit to be in that car, then its clear that the problem is DS, not Matco and not Whit.

BINGO! Baze has been the "red-headed step child" at dsr for some time. Maybe it has something to do with his candor and non-butt smooching demeanor. Baze can drive and has worked hard and earned his way in the sport, he'll land on his feet.

Not to mention the fact that given equal cars Baze will smoke capps anyday of the week.

Bingo. Great answer cobra, whit has worked hard and is the best funnycar driver shoe has errrr had. I know where ever whit goes that team will be a winner. As far as whits att. i would rather have a guy tell me exactly how he feels than act one way but bitch about it behind closed doors. Do you really think whit is any diff. than pruhdomme, ace or garlits???? Give me a break nhra fans are getting WAY to soft, this is drag racing not ballet!!!!!!!!!!
