From this article: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/motorsports/368158_cain24.html

The NHRA has set up a conference call either with all member tracks or the ones with races still to be run this season in the wake of last weekend's tragedy.

There's also some interesting quotes from Ron Capps that I had not yet heard in the article.

I just spoke with my friend in New Jersey he was responding to an email i sent him this morning about some speculations that were discussed in this forum, particularly the one about removing Etown off the tour next year,It really got to him & he called half of new jersey & new york.Jason & his dad has been going to etown for the nhra nationals for 25years & they carry a group of 15,cousins,brothers,uncles & friends. They say they will all drop there nhra membership if the nhra does not come to etown,They sit at the finishline at the picnic tables & watch from there, they insist that the shutdown length is not the cause & that he was out cold from the explosion while still on the gas.I agree that safety comes first but if shutdown length is a problem then why are they going to norwalk cause according to this forum Norwalk has a shorter shutdown than etown,It appears that the length is only a problem if the driver is out, cause even when the chutes would fail in the past drivers would hit the brakes & may go into the sandtrap but in many cases the car was able to run the next round & i know you guys who watch the sport as long as i have can testify that you have seen this.

Because of it's proximity to NYC, E-town is one of the top money makers on the tour. Now, does anyone think that NHRA will give that up? I have a causeway, or some land in the Everglades for sale, CHEAP!

In October 2004, I had 3 different Funny Car pilots, all in competition last weekend @ OBTRP, tell me during the rescheduled Keystone Nationals that was the ONLY reason the race in Jersey is still on the tour, because it gets some free national publicity being so-close to Wall Street/NYC:
crew-members of those 3 different teams claimed the best-thing about going to Englishtown was paved-pits (no mud gets tracked into their work-space), and the close proximity of Atlantic City casinos/gaming-establishments.

We get the same crap here in MN. they are always talking about Brainerd closing down, but it will never happen; especially now with the new owner.

I think the best rumor I heard was a few years ago that Six Flaggs was going to buy the track and turn it into a park... I wonder if other cities with older tracks hear that kind of crap.

Yeah they were saying that same crap here, that OCIR and Carlsbad were closing down, what a bunch of crap...
