I don't like it!
I'm a member there, & it seems everyone is afraid to say what they really mean.. They don't want to piss off the powers that be....

I agree. Seems like there is a fear of getting bounced for speaking out against the grain, and its as if everyone is trying to suck up to the 1 or 2 famous folks that post there.
What a waste the new Mater is. Sugar coated topics only. Hopefully this will become a true freedom of speech(within reason) forum.

Hang on Bros !!! Limits on freedom of speech like the mater (idiots) usually flame out big time....just watch what happens over here ! throw a few bones at jerrod and will bark like a dog....Woof !
Anyway, Im glad were back in the land of the free.....the ministry of truth lives at the "mater"....And to think Jannard used to be an old dirt bike dude and was cool as hell....money will ruin some people eventually

A new rumor....with jannard's financial backing, jerrod might be running for the next white house press secretary ! He is learning all about "spin" "media control" and fabrication over at his ship of fools site the "Mater" new name "Later" not "Mater"
Can ya tell I got a little pissed off at them for doing what they did ?
I proudly wear Gargoyles now, all my Oakley's went to the garbage can a month ago.....dont worry I smashed em all up and emailed pictures of them to the mater fags........

I like it. People are loosening up. Some good threads over there now, though I will admit that things are a little slow right now. I will always post my real name no matter which forum I am posting on. I have no problem with anyone knowing what I say and who I am.

For what it's worth I still like the Mater and still visit there. Jerrod had to do what he had to do. That was his option and his right. You can't slam a man for wanting a site that his name is attached the way he wants it. The old Nitromater before the real names became mandatory was interesting.
I have a fondness in my heart to that site...myself, Roger Richards and JR Todd were in the first ten members to join that site when it first came out.
The bottom line is it was jerrod's site to do whatever he wanted to...if you don't like the way he did it....sometimes it's just best to move on whereever you want to go.
I am glad you're visiting our forum...our goal is to sprak healthy conversation that compliments what I feel is the best internet drag racing magazine on the web. That's just my opinion. It is what it is.
You are entitiled to your opinion...but the content here will not dip into the gutter level such as posts that refer to licking nads as one does. That's just gross. If that's your idea of freedom of speech then it's not going to be here.

Jeeez.... I hope this doesnt turn into a Sunday School type forum..... Is this a drag racing forum or a retired old ladies weaving forum ? In case you havent noticed, drag racers and their fans usually speak their minds without the restrictions of Political Correctness......with in reason. But if your trying to defend jerrod over there for doing what they did, then its your opinion to like it also, it happens to be not everybody agree's with you, is that okay with you ? Are you going to toss people for disagreeing with you here also ?
They are words Bobby, not daggers .... Lets keep things in perspective

Whatever. Who cares. The new nitromater is a privately run message board. They can choose to make up whatever rules they feel like. If you don't like the way they changed it, then you did the right thing by leaving their website.
Personally, I don't like it much either, and haven't re-registered over there.
I'm not missed, and I don't miss posting over there. They implemented too many frivolous rules for my liking, so I don't feel the need to play in their sandbox any more.

Just my opinion......
I enjoyed the old 'mater quite a bit. There were a bunch of idiots being stupid and making people mad, but I learned some time ago the best way to make them go away was to ignore them. I think most of them were guys just needing attention since no one notices them in the "real" world. I tried signing up for the new mater but ran into a problem that kept me out. I lurked in the meantime, and from what I've seen so far, the "edge" that made it so good before is gone. Not a bad place, mind you, just one that is far less interesting that what it once was. I'm not going to complain about the owners of the site either. When it's your ball being used in the game, you're entitled to play the game with your own rules. I've since found the answer to the problem that kept me out (on a different forum board strangely enough) but currently don't feel the desire to join in there again. I hope this place takes off and becomes the "cutting edge" in drag racing commentary and opinion. Hats off to Bobby Bennett!!!!

I'm sure everyone knows that the plug was pulled on the 'old' Mater because of the hateful 'opinions' that were posted about people like Angelle, Schumacher, and Enders to name but a few. It's too bad that it had to go down that way. But I guess it's the price that has to be paid to keep things civil.

Well, then they should've just pruned out the folks that couldn't be civil, and let the rest continue on, instead of "pulling the plug". They lost far more good people and good opinions than idiots.

Not returning was a personal choice. If people chose not to use their real name for some reason, it's probably better in the long run.
Personally, I believe that if they had 'pruned', people wouldn't have been happy either. Unfortunately, the board got a bad rep because of a handful of mean spirited trouble makers. I guess they felt they had to close it down and start over again.
I will agree that having a consistant method of warning and ultimately banning the trouble makers, would have been better. Be that as it may, what is done is done. It is what it is now, and it will attract who it will attract. It'll be just fine.

On the old Mater there was no control.. if someone was being a jerk.. & got banned, what would prevent him from returning with a different handle.... As a matter of fact.. same goes here.. what happens if someone comes here as John AA .. starts problems.. & eventually gets banned .. cant he return as John BB or John CC... I'm just asking cause I'm really not that computer litterite..

Well, here's my 2 cents worth.
I had voluntarily donated, more than the average I think, because I thought the site was mostly working good.
The problems started when the all the new mods were added and they would let their "buddies" post whatever they wanted to, while "non-buddies" could do no right. I had quite a few run-ins with the new mods, mostly with them backing their "buddies" when they had attacked teams, drivers, etc.
When jannard started his "disrespect" thread, I knew it was about control to eliminate bad press. The promise was made that the change would bring back teams, drivers and all, but, how many have posted? The last time I looked, it looked like a fan-boy club, just what they wanted!
When the change was made, I was told that I had to pay and use my real name. Well, the powers there knew who I was and I had already given them money, but, that didn't matter to them. You don't burn your paying customers and expect them to come back. You won't see me posting there.

I only lurked around on nitromater, but when I read what Jannerd proposed I thought to myself, this guy can't believe what he's writing? He's got to know how drivers and crew people really feel about forums like nitromater? They won't post here even if people change to their real names and kiss their butts. Sure there would be a few, but that would be spit in a bucket compared to the majority that would ignore it. So I figured there had to be another reason it was being done. Yet everyone over there lapped that BS up like milk in a dish. And they'll never admit that they got taken through the woods on a snipe hunt. They'll just keep saying that it had to be done because of the few that were acting out.

Unless they are knowledgable and able to change their IP addresses each time they log on with a different ID, they can easily be banned from doing so. For 99% of the people that would participate in forum like this and wish to change their ID, they wouldn't even know where to begin to go about changing their IP address.

The new Nitromater is made up of people that are willing to associate their valid criticisms and comments with their true identity. I can't say that I always agree with the statements made, but everyone is entitled to their opinion, it sure seemed that people were more opinionated when names weren't on the screen though.
Oh well, I guess that's why this message board will be popular. I will say one thing, I think Jon Asher, Jeff Wolfe and writers like them are biased and self serving writers with the "glass is half empty" syndrome, but I do admire that they put themselves and their views on a public forum without the cloak of annonimity. They stir the pot of interest, that is the job of the media (I personally believe that it can be done minus the mud slinging, but oh well). But it is easy to look from the outside, knowing half (if that) of the actual facts and write a story that slanders them to an audience that likes negativity. It's like a car crash and media in general: the more horrific and verbose the more the audience is attracted to it. That's just the sad truth.
NHRA, Kenny Bernstein, the MatCo Tools sponsorship, everything else written about on Nitromater, and everyone reading this have one thing in common....we are not perfect. And if you are perfect please disregard the entire comment above, it was not intended for your review.

Posting on a public message board like this is just like getting involved in local politics. Once you voice an opinion, you end up choosing enemies. Making friends is only temporary. Keeping your identity private is best if you actually have to deal with people in the real world. Disagreeing with your opinion is different then disagreeing with YOU. Once they disagree with you, virtually nothing you do is right in their eyes.

Being a moderator of another group, those who were wondering how banning goes, well it's usually based on your email address. When you signed up for this board you had to give the admin a valid email address. If you screw up enough they simply block your email address. Now some think they can just switch email addresses like going to Yahoo or Hotmail or wherever but a lot of lists don't allow anyone with those addresses to join. so that's how it works. Yeah, some can get around it by having 10 email addresses with their ISP but in the end you get the same result...banned if you get too mouthy and cross the line between good comments and insults/slander. On my group I would compose a private email to the offender explaining what was coming if the offending comments weren't stopped. Some listen and some don't. Some have to learn the hard way. It ain't censorship...it's keeping order.

I don't see the difference between using my real name or an alias. If I'm going to post something inappropriate and get banned what difference does it make ? Be it my real name or Bubba, I'm still banned.

Hey Leaker, after reading some of your stuff you're one of my favorite people on here. But, I don't know what the big deal is.
I still don't understand why they want real names but as for the money it's only a buck. You have to pay via PayPal. That's how they verify who you are. And the money is then donated to a charity.

I have always used my real name and always will. I didn't pony up the buck for that simple reason. I have been on the 'mater from the original one, have talked to Jrod on the phone as well as some of his mods. emails as well. I happen to agree with using my real name as I don't have anything to hide or be ashamed of. I will say to your face what I can type on a keyboard. Some use the keyboard to just stir crap up and that's when they want to be hidden. Hoping this board can keep from turning into pissing matches between those that like a certain driver/team vrs. another. It's the love of this sport that brings us together.

I think my post titled Das Boot went along way towards enacting the new mater. In it I implied that Don Shu had Scelzi dive for capps. I did not start the thread to bash Scelzi or Jannard, as I feel they are stand-up guys, I simply wanted to unveil the massive DSR bias on that board. In the process I pissed Don off and all his groupies freaked out. Now we have the new, softer, pc, dsr rules board that one must pay in order to post on. I don't pay for a thing on the net, especially the mater.
Oh well, life goes on...

I'm from a country that is run by corporations. I'm from a country who has a history of entering ficticious wars for the sole purpose of generating revenue. See Vietnam. See Iraq.
I care about America. I'm patriotic and I have the utmost respect for the men & women who give it all for my freedom.
What I don't approve of however - is crooked administrations who put the national debt at three trillion dollars, kill innocent people and throw our young soldiers out to the battle field like raw meat for the sole purpose of corporations to enhance their bottom lines.
I live here. I like it here. I hate it when the powers in Washington act foolishly, irresponsibly and greedy not to mention arrogant.

Like someone else stated, people need something to read on the new Mater, so continue the Press Releases for DSR and Ron Capps--on the Mater--they enjoy it, but I'm just an army of one and it's of my opinion.
Lynch--I'm calling you out--you have anything to add? ;)

Oh, so you didn't mean me Nitro1102? Hmmm, I guess I wasn't the only one who thought that. Besides, Ron's true stalker hasn't posted on Nitromater in quite a while. My apologies.
And Lynch? Well, he doesn't need a forum to tell me what he thinks.

Not everyone is registered at nitromater
Just don't open the thread. I'm sure the heading will be the same on both places.
You don't have to be registered to read nitromater.

I don't know what you're f--ken problem is, but take it to email, pm or phone. I'll be more than happy to tell you what a wink means at the end of a post.
That's your 2nd smart ass reply to one of my posts. If you don't like em, don't read em.
Uh, Bubba.....I don't have a problem. However, it seems clear that you do.
Nothing 'smart ass' at all in my reply, by any stretch of the imagination. Simply stating a fact.

You also seem to have a problem with 'reading comprehension'. Your 'roll eyes' contributes nothing to my post. If you have something to say, say it.
Your comment 'Just don't open the thread' is directed at me for posting a joke to Kelly. It was a joke!
If I had been serious, your information to me was incorrect. You do not have to be a member of Nitrometer to read the posts.
You are correct that I do have a problem. It's the people like you that put their twist on what was said or make little comments like 'rolling their eyes' but don't have the balls to say what they really want to.

"Me thinks thou doest protest too much".
HA! Chill out. I never have a problem saying what I want to say and I always do. Anyone who knows me understand that. No hidden agendas with me Bubba.
That chip on your shoulder is getting in the way of people taking much of what you say seriously. If you want to read something into my posts, that's your choice. Flame all you want to, there's nothing more for me to say.

Kelly if you wanna post the capps crap here, go for it but the mater board is made for that crap so please don't transform this board into a kiss dsr butt board. It gets old.
As for the mater, at least we have an option now.

I hate it when the powers in Washington act foolishly, irresponsibly and greedy not to mention arrogant.
this is america right here. I just signed up.

Well I can only speak for myself but I am really not interested in "news" produced by the PR person of a team.
My definition of PR is people who get paid to lie for their employers. Kind of similar to diplomats.
Third party news from independent sources is always welcome.

isn't everything that's spewed forth from her mouth a hit on me? well, i've kept quiet for a couple of years and have let her and her herd bash me and spread lies about me all they want. anyone who doesn't have their head up her rear end sees right through her jealousy-fueled drama and lies. and i would never disrespect bobby by starting anything on this board. but let me say this...they don't want me to start talking because i'll expose the truth about everything, and i have documented proof of everything i say. and i promise it would shake up the drag racing community, ruin careers and reputations. but i'm not really into ruining people's lives like some people are. so that's all i'm going to say on that subject on this forum because this is CompetitionPlus, not "Days of our Pathetic Kiss-Ass Lives." if you wish to contact me privately, feel free to do so.
