Bazemore was just on windtunnel and his take was just a bit different than I expected (after listening to DS and reading some of the PC news releases.)
Seemed a bit offended by the release and by the "rookie" buying his seat. Not quite as "OK" with it as I thought he might try to project.
On the positive side he feels he might be at the top of the new Matco/TF driver list.
Anyone else see the show and what were your impressions......

Seemed a bit offended by the release and by the "rookie" buying his seat.

Same thing happened to Mike Dunn and the NY Yankees Top Fuel car. Someone bought his seat in the car.

Dunn even said on NHRA Today that he STILL hasn't got over that clusterfrick that was the NYY dealio..................

Late.....................Mitch

it may have been a CF but they would have been out of business without it.

I just hope that these reporters and rumors dont lose Blaze that seat. They can just poke and prod and make him say the wrong thing. See he should answer I am hoping to get a seat in either Funny car or Top Fuel.

He doesnt have a real good knack of keeping secrets and that offends some sponsors. Never know what Matco is gonna want to do.

As far as buying the seat, 1.5 million isnt gonna run that car through the year so Dons gotta get someone else or there will be no season.

Whit didn't seem happy at all with the way things went down. Whit is just not capable of bull****ting people. It's obvious he's hurt. And I don't blame him.

and to show what kind of driver he is , he goes out and nearly wins indy after being told he's out of a job.

I especially found his comment about how 'Don took care of Capps himself' after the assault interesting. Did he mean the fine? Did Don kick the crap out of Capps? :p

The_Leaker

Um...

People Don himself came on this very fourm and stated that we have no idea what is going on..

And whit and himslef have a strong relationship and that we basically have no clue what is happening , we also were told that whit was happy with the current arrangement and recent actions of DSR

Now why would the shoe post it if it wasnt true?

Whit has to be making all this TV up?

Some is BS'ing us keyboard racers...

hmm one is a gazillionare and one is looking for a job... who do we believe?

I hope Whit finds a 'home' for next season. I wouldn't want to see his name added to the list of experienced drivers out there without a ride.

Either way shoe is losing one of the top 3-4 funnycar pilots in the world. No offense to beckman but i hope they run like s!#t next year. I have said a million times that whit remindes me of the snake, maybe if the rumors are true we could see baze in a snake f/c next year.........That would be bitchen!

Sounds to me like (reading between the lines) he will be in a Matco sponsored gig next year. If they (Matco) are out of FC then I'd bet he is in TF.

Doubt that Snake and Whit could get along at all.

Who really cares !!! Whit is a punk and a cry baby.

As far as you people thinking he is some fantastic driver - guess what - they ALL are good drivers. THE ONLY reason why people dominate or even win and others don't is because of BUDGETS AND CREWCHIEFS - PERIOD!!!!

Tony Shumacher is not winning because he is a good driver - HE WINS BECAUSE OF ALAN JOHNSON - END OF STORY!!!!

Same goes for everyone in the class - get the budget and crew chief you will win (of course the team has to gell - so it may take a little while)

Does it take some skill to drive a fuel car - OF COURSE. But get real people it is not a f-1 car making laps shifting 50-60 times per lap. That is driver skill MUCH more than driving a fuel car. Stop putting these people on pedalstals because they drive cars tuned by ENGINEERS and flat out GENIOUSES - because the fact of the matter is when tony shumacher goes 4.44 - it could have been you in the seat that went the 4.44 - because that is what the car was set up to do and it did it!!!!

The only thing is - most people would not have the balls to drive one - lol.

Funny how some people think the driver dosent mean anything in a fuel car, usualy the same people that havent driven anything faster than an iroc camaro. Also if you think whit is a punk take a look at your beloved pro stock class. Full of true punks! The prof?... Erica enders? No talent just got a ride because daddy has money and shes a girl!!!! bazemore is a great driver. Also if fuel drivers arent any good com. to f1, why do drag racers always do very good in other forms of racing??? p.s When drag racers do get invited to celeb. races or other events isnt it funny how they are ALWAYS FUEL DRIVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never said that they have ZERO skill - but does not have the skill of an f-1 driver - NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Oh and by the way I have driven faster than an iroc - dragster that has been 5.43 @ 275. So I will now wait for you to take your foot out of your mouth!!

So just explain to me in the circumstnace when the car is on a perfect run - where is the skill then. If i knew my car was gonna run the 5.43 @ 275 and not smoke the tires or get out of shape then YES ANYONE could have driven the lap!!!! Because it required NO SKILL!!!!

SO AGAIN I never said there was ZERO skill in drag racing - However there is not much - It is 98 % crew chief and 2 % driver.

I did not make my car run the 5.43 - MY CREWCHIEF DID !!!!

Please do not be so ignorant.

YES THAT IS VERY QUICK, FASTER THAN ME BUT I HAVE ALSO DRIVEN A FAST CAR, 672-206.90 ON 13 INCH TIRES AND I STILL SAY NOT ANYONE COULD HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR. ALOT OF PEOPLE WOULDNT GET IN MUCH LESS KEPT CAR IN GROOVE. Guess what ANYBODY could drive an f1 car if they had the guts to learn also. Thats what makes motor sports great it puts everybody on level playing field to start. Man against machine.;) P.S Props also to my crew chief on his tune up,,,thanks pop!

prostockfan

Again I never said that we have NO SKILL. And by the way - on 13 inch tires - VERY NICE. And to what I said earlier - yes most people would not even think about getting into my car - your car - or even something that went 9 seconds. And to be honest I do not blame them - speed is not for everyone. We all have our things.

I think people have misunderstood me - Does is take skill to drive our cars?YES. DO I BELIEVE it is the skill to drive an f-1 car - NO. However I do agree that in time we would be able to learn it. Let's put it this way - take a fan from the stands and put him in an f-1 car (set up perfect)- see what happens. Now take the same fan and put him in my dragter and see what happens. He will be able to drive my car down the track with ease - 1) if the car does go down and 2) he has the balls to do it. I hope you understand where I am coming from now.

And yes good tune-up pops !!! LOL

no they are not all good drivers. as you say , anyone can drive the car when it's working right, it's when it isn't that the 'driver's races' occur, and Whit has shown he has the experience to get the most out of the car when **** happens.

does anyone besides me find it hysterical when someone misspells a word like geniuses?

it's called a typo - things that happen when you type fast!

When you type 20 words per minute I understand these things never happen.

whatsa matta you feelings hurt. I dont' know dude, if you're going to insult other's intelligence, at least spell the word right when you do it.

besides, ask Brandon Bernstein how easy it is. yah easy to drive it right over the wall when you don't know what you are doing.
i'm seriously glad he was ok, but that was all inexperience that resulted in what happened that day

I think you're wrong for suggesting that talent doesn't matter in these cars.

you think the crewchief would be able to get a decent tune up figured out with out a decent driver? I dont'. even michael schumacher has said there is very little if any difference between himself and the other drivers in F1. His contributions to making his car better than the others is where his real value lies.

prostockfan
09-20-2006, 02:34 PM
ok also ask BB how easy it was for the hundreds of runs he made in the a-fuel car and all the runs in the top fuel car prior and even after the englishtown event.

He never drove ANYTHING - gets right into the a-fuel car and wins races and contends for the championship - even when he began the fuel car he was winning.

But I guess that is due to him as the driver - WRONG. He was winning only because of Darian-Meadows and with daddys crew with the fuel car- period !!

Same goes for Ashley now in the a-fuel car. Darian-Meadows not Ashley is winning the races.

How about this then - you go get 5 of your friends and you guys can be the crew and crew chief on any drivers car you can think of - and SINCE THE DRIVER HAS SUCH SKILL HE WILL OBVIOUSLY STILL WIN !!!

then let's take Tony Schumacher out of his car and put me in it - I will bet my house against your that I WIN RACES !!!

You do the math and tell me who has the skill now.

At the begining of the season, DSR makes it clear that this is a Capp's/Ace year and they are the chosen ones. Even if Force & Co can't be beat, Capps will be the highest finishing FC in DSR stable. Whit, being Whit, thinks this is BS and proceeds to do the best he can and encourages his team to do the same. At several points during the year team orders are given and are followed by accident. Until there are 3rd and final round showings by Whit it's no big deal. But at that point, DSR says "you drive for me and you will follow my orders". Matco begins asking Whit "we got the driver, the bux, and the team. why aren't we getting anywhere?" Whit mentions to Matco that he isn't allowed to put their car anywhere beyond 2nd round if the ladder indicates two DSR lining up, and they(Matco) make plans to go with a nitro team that will race heads up and Whit makes plans to field his own car for "07,much the same way Tony Ped did. Meantime DSR has contracts with associate sponsors and various crew members beyond "06 and wants to keep an FC in his stable to be a "jam car", blocking any assaults to the chosen Capps/Ace team. In comes Beckman, the perfect guy because he is unproven in FC, and could be expected to qualify top half one week and DNQ the next.Plus he's got money for the rest of the year and into "07. DSR can afford to pay Whit to sit it out because of Beckman's money. Whit's not happy,DSR's not happy, Matco's not happy, but every body shuts up because this is actually making a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Everyone lost something but everyone got what they needed, including Beckman.

Anyone think I'm full of it?

Some good posts in the last two pages here.

Anyone that disagrees with the idea that crew chiefs and money win the race needs to re-examine the sport a little.

Prostockfan is just telling it like it is . ..... Now if you want to talk driver skill we could talk about the PS Class. There you have all 3 facets (crew chief, money and driver skill) playing much more of a balanced role. But even there you see where the cc& the $ override driver skill. Look at J Line. His lights have not been great this year at all. However, the tune up is what is killing everyone, not the driver.

On another note, I dug enraeh's post. The scenerio he desribes sounds sure sounds plausable.

I still say thats DSR wanted to get rid of Blaze because of the turmoil between he and Capps........ even though several rumors and Whitt hit on it a touch that most of the problem was Capps's... He just kept quiet in front of cameras..... but MATCO wanted to keep Whitt.. so MATCO decided if Whit was gone so were they.... guess DSR figured that MATCO would just follow along.... but opps guess not.....

i might be wrong.. its all up to the spin doctors to make us feel good about it now.....lol.... only thing worse than Goverment politics are racing politics.....

i think your dead on! plus i would love to see whit with his own team again. the only problem is he would need to have a team partner and a top crew chief. when tony p. set out on his own ,he had cruz to team up with and dickie was dying to show his talents , so the timing was perfect.
