Could have been a real contender in 2007....

i honestly think BG should go the route of Bill Jenkins and just open up his own engine shop and lease out motors and forget about being crew chief. Just stand on the starting line with a cigar, take notes and forget about working directly for anybody else

It's becoming more and more appearant that he is only going to be satisfied when he is in COMPLETE control and dosen't have to butt heads with someone else. He needs his own team.
Sure wish that would happen, then we would really see what he could do in this era. I think he would be awsome

ol fart...think you hit it on the nail there. He either wants complete control OR is very difficult to get along with.
BG and Rickie Smith must have the biggest resume's in drag racing!:p

Not sure anybody could get along with either Glidden or Maskin for very long.

I dont know how anyone can say he didnt have complete control at don dons team. Nobody knew prostock racing there. He ran the entire deal and couldnt get cars qualified.
I just think that eventually everyone that works with him decide that he was a great driver and might have even been a good tuner in his day, but pro stock is far different than when he was the king.

You couldnt be more wrong. He didnt have complete control at DSR. That was the problem. If he did have complete control, then Shaun Carlson would never have been named the driver of that car, thats for sure. And as for qualifying, I dont think Richie ever missed a field. If he did, then it was only once. Shaun couldnt qualify if you dropped him out of a 747. No dig to him, apparently no one can qualify that car but still. Richie was always competitive.

From the outside looking in, it would appear that Mr. Glidden doesn't play well with others. But, in his defense, would anyone else that has seen the level of success he's had in the past be able to work directly for someone else that hasn't been on top of the world? (i.e. Force, WJ, Amato, to name a few) That's sort of like in the real world where the guy who's been doing the job all his life has to answer to the young punk just out of college who knows nothing and makes more money. If we need the paycheck (and most of us do), we put up with the punk. If we don't need the paycheck (Glidden for example) we walk.

It wouldnt be the first time I was wrong, I guess we all know that was one of dons mistakes with the pro stock team.
