Jeff always tells it like it is. It seems that he always comes out with a great column right before NHRA comes to town. You can bet he will be in the house come October.
WOW..what an insight...Jeff is a great guy and I respect his honesty in telling it like he sees it. You do not, of course, have to agree but it puts it out there as food for thought...Great Job..and I agree with the idea of NHRA members who are the real people taking it over and being able to come up with some ideas on how it needs to be. NHRA has gone away from what the sport is really about..I will get into that mix....Thanks for the article..

Hahaha! :)
It's good to hear unbiased, and frank reporting. Maybe someday the higher-ups at NHRA will wake up and see the err of their ways.

He should give the system a chance. Similar systems work in other sports. If attendance increases the system will stay. Kenny Bernstein is an over the hill Top Fuel driver. This sponsor should have supported some new up and coming racer.

That's only part of it Larry. This guy hates what the NHRA has become. Read some of his other articles. I think 90% of us agree with every word he writes.

i only disagree with one thing..... about them being liqoured up... i'm willing to bet they are stone cold sober when they thought this junk up....lol. who was it that came on Tv and stated that thier timing system is never wrong. even while ESPN showed them the pics of the Smith/Johnson screw up at Indy?
Mark my words.. by the second cutt for the points chase, you will see several teams that we thought had great financial backing falling behind or out due ot lack of money if they don't make the cut for the points race...
Many big corperations have gotten smart and figured out how to milk the system at the race teams exspense in NASCAR.. and it will happen here as well....NHRA won't hurt.. the teams are going to. and if they want to make it past inspection at the NHRA events then they (teams) have to keep quiet about this deal...

It shocks me to see how people, that seem intelligent and well versed, contradict themselves so vehemently! The following quote is straight from Jeff Wolfes article:
"SMI owns Las Vegas Motor Speedway and five other tracks with 10 NASCAR Nextel Cup races, and it has the bankroll to promote our sport and its top stars like we either can't or have been too dumb to do."
Jeff, if you want to promote the sport start writing articles that will make people intrigued to watch and go to a drag race. Rather than always running a smear campaign. Promotion of the sport begins with the strokes of your keyboard prior to submitting an article like this one. Bruton Smith would basterdize the sport...a huge majority of our participants are sportsman racers, Bruton would eliminate them to focus on the PRO categories.
Be careful what you guys wish for! Honestly look at the NHRA and then decide if it is as bad as you all want to believe? Sure it makes this message board more exciting to read but I think things are just fine. Look at how NHRA has developed in the last 50+ years!
