I also think Snakes commentary was taken out of context. His comment spoke to the wealth of the team owner, and the fact that he has the financial resources of a whole country behind him. Nowhere in his statement did I hear any racial slur. As for the comment being less than PC, good for Snake. I for one am sick of interviews where drivers all but dry hump their sponsors, and guard their every word and emotion, despite it being an emotionally charged sport. I fully realize that sponsor image has dictated this issue, but does anyone recall the good old days of "rivalry" and what it did for the sport. Hell, half of the rivalries in the day were staged, but man did it fill the stands. Im not much into theater, but tell me that rivalries like Snake vs. Mongoose didnt pack the stands. Over the years, I have realized that most NHRA fans have a pretty strong understanding of the mechanical side. On the other hand, for those less mechanically inclined individuals, a good old driver vs. driver rivalry draws them in. If we want to expand our fanbase, maybe this is an element that needs to come back. The WWE makes millions based on smack talk and flair. Im not saying that the NHRA should go to that extreme, but for Pete's sake, let a guy speak his mind every once in a while. JMO

The part that he was not joking. Believe me DP wasn't wearing a kind face with a smile.

My gosh someone needs sensitivity classes. If forums has existed in the 60's and 70's these posts would have been countless pages long. These guys travel the country together and occasionally become business associates. A little ribbing is part of the deal. Like a business golf outing. You don't hate the guy that out drove you. OR maybe you do. It's all in fun. Ask Ace how rifts were settled in the old days. Now that would give you something to talk about.

Okay tell us why he wasn't joking and why he wasn't wearing a kind smile. If you know something, spill it.

Somehow if it is his last race as an owner, I don't believe he'll be too far away from the sport in one capacity or another.
