Default Garlits Museum

If that storm goes through Tampa, Ocala is right in the path. The state is only about 170 miles wide there according to the weather report and the storm is 200 miles across. Not very good odds. It could make a mess out of Garlits' museum. Maybe it will skirt around it or be far enough from the eye that there will not be much damage. There is a lot of history there and he has really put a massive amount of effort into it. Probably sweating bullits right now. His whole life is in there plus many - many historical race cars. It has to be the largest collection around of significant cars in the history of drag racing.

Wind will be the only issue. It's 100' above sea level and no tidal surge. They've been talking about it on FB. That and the 40th anniv. of Jungle's passing. Great stories/pics by the racers posting.

I was just thinking of starting a thread on this and looking at the museum's location on Google. Got my fingers crossed (just one hand though as two cancles each other out...so they say). At 100', surge is less an issue but rainfall can be another. I don't know how much is predicted but I wouldn't be surprised if it's not at least 6-12"...which can create quite a mess.

If there's one plus side of these hurricanes it would be the potential to drive contruction labor wages way up.
