Aside from Vincent leapfrogging Erica and Greg, none of the pro stock car or motorcycle points would have changed. Interesting to note Matt Hagan could have made it up to 8th after his dismal first half. Aside from that the nitro classes would have had a lot of changes. Steve Torrence from 4th to 9th was the biggest loser.

interesting.

Is there someplace where the old points were calculated for the previous countdown years?

Not that I know of. With about three hours and simple math it could be done. Maybe someday when I'm bored I'll just go on ahead and do that.

Capps would have won the title if he got to keep his car.

Jack would have run away with it if he got to keep his car.

Back in 2007, the first year of the Countdown, some guy did a comparision between the new points system and the previous during the course of that portion of the season. Here's the basic standings minus the points. Season long final points position in parenthesis.......

BTW...he was not inclined to take that "project" on again.....

From what I remember from Funny Car, Wilkerson would have won in 08 instead of Cruz, Hight should have won 07 instead of Tony P, but then Tony P should have won in 09 instead of Hight.
