Default Thunder Road in Shreveport, LA joins IHRA?

Did anyone catch that article at the IHRA website? It was posted 5 days ago but IHRA has deleted the article now. Anybody know anything about that?

This was the link to the article from Jan 29, 2018. If you search Google for IHRA Thunder Road, it shows a cached version of the page in the search results and you can read the first couple of sentences.

It opened back up immediately. It only closed because Nelson and Marla left after a bunch of **** and lawsuits against the owner. So a few weeks later, the owner opened it back up. Currently running TnT on weekends and not sure what else. Has a schedule for 2018. Unfortunately, it's mostly just TnT, it appears. Because people say Buddy Dunn doesn't have a clue what he's doing. Sucks that we went from the most improved track in Division 4, with more events in a year than I've ever seen, when Nelson and Marla Hoyos ran it....to this

On the plus side, we race from February through December around here. Lol Thunder Road is my home track.

The issue was that the Dunn's refused to put money into repairs and upgrades. Even after the Hoyos' spent their own money on this stuff. Buddy wouldn't reimburse them for repairing his track. So they sued him, from what I understand. He still refuses to do anything worthwhile. Gets drunk and cusses out racers. Shuts down and makes everyone leave at a moments notice, for no reason. There's so many complaints. His response? You don't have to come out here if you don't want to. Smh. Let's not fix the issues. Instead, Buddy says "don't like it? Don't come race". Seems like he's still unwilling fix the issues. Mainly his own issues. Not to mention all that needs attention at the track.

The article you posted mentions the Hoyos' were talking with the Shreveport Sports Commission about building another track here. They ended up moving to Georgia, where they now manage South Georgia Motorsports Park(SGMP). Wish them all the best. They were awesome managers/operators while here.

I spoke with Frank Kohutek, IHRA Division 4, 6, &7 director. This is what he had to say about it:

Quote:
Buddy gave us a verbal, I sent him a sanction agreement but he has not returned it signed, I have emailed and called several times with no response. So to answer your question, as of today, they are not sanctioned with IHRA yet.

Thanks,

Frank Kohutek | Division Director 4, 6 & 7
