No way! Is this April Fool's day?

I'm as amped as I've ever been to go to Indy now. I wonder if racers were consulted on this or not. Should be interesting to see who participates and who doesn't. There's a huge advntage to those late on the run order. If they see someone else go go the 1,000 ft. mark, they probably aren't going to bothering to better it and just stick to their normal routine.

I think some of us jokingly suggested this idea or similar when NHRA imposed the tire shaving rule.

WOW! NHRA is actually doing something to bring some attention to Pro Stock.
The only downfall to this is that the P/S fuel tanks are quite small. I wonder if they'll let them refuel when they back up from a 1,000 ft. burnout?

It's for real!

Think about it.... After all the negative publicity the class has received over the past few seasons, Gray's fog banks in Brainerd got the category the most positive attention in some time. And NHRA jumped on it with amazing, and uncharacteristic haste....

More food for thought.... 22 entries in PS. That's the most in some time.

Yeah, but it's kind sad to think they had to actually see it happen to know the fans would go nuts for this.

22 is a solid number. I wasn't aware there were that many still in existance.

I hope that equates 110 cracks at the burn-out contest!

This deal is kind of humorous. It is great that they are doing something - good - bad - or indifferent. As usual the nay sayers have decided that it is nothing, but it has some interest from the pool here which is kind of a negative crowd sometimes. I'm willing to bet that the results are very positive and the class will have more interest again IF every one participates with enthusiasm. Dual 1000 foot Smokey burnouts will draw a crowd with any kind of vehicles as long as it is loud and smokey. Finally - it's off your a$$ and on your feet and watch this. Announcer needs to play it up too. As my grandkids say - Good Job

I think it's a great idea, Hopefully everyone will participate and have some fun with this. Slap on a new set of boots and go have some fun and break them in at the same time. It reminds me of the John Force burnouts from years past where everyone would be on their feet applauding him. Think about how many fans John made back then doing them 1000 foot burnouts.
