It is pretty much impossible to compare skill sets of driving or riding styles when giving out accolades for motor sports because it is back to the apples and oranges deal. This has to be a popularity contest. A good comparison might be what Einstein said: "Everybody is a genius (or great at something). But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." It is really surprising that Drag Racing was even included in this since it is basically an American Niche motor sport. World wide F1 or Moto GP would most likely have lot more relevance just like American Football vs Soccer.

These things always boil down to popularity contests.

And although driving a top fuel car may be amazingly intense and difficult, it's over in under 5 seconds. The level of continuous mental intensity needed to race in F1 is unparalleled. I also believe that given a 1/2 day of training, Max would do a much better job of driving Britt's car than she would with his.

Drag racing is the bowling of stick and ball sports.
Just like bowling’s best won’t win many ESPN Athletes of the Year awards, drag racing should be happy it's even listed.

Football, basketball and baseball pull huge numbers compared to bowling.
F1, Moto GP and NASCAR pull huge numbers compared to all of drag racing. The biggest market in drag racing is Street Outlaws. (Sorry Wally. )

Farm Truck for the win?

You could throw in rock crawlers, motorcycle trials and such, I think it is impossible to single out 1 driver over all the others in the world. If a nascar driver wins, you automatically know the award has no credibility.
