I'm not a fan of the whole 4-wide thing. There is the circus aspect but that's not my biggest problem. What gets me is that even after quite a few 4-wides, staging can still look like amateur hour.

I would be happy if they ran nitro on one side and pro stock and comp on the other two lanes. At least we would see the stands proving why people attend.

Basically NHRA catering to Bruton Smith.

Nice way of saying kissing his ass.

It's a joke.

Considering he owns the nicest tracks in the country, what else do you propose they do? btw... NHRA stands to make money from the additional 4 wide as well.

Correct. Why anyone is surprised they are completing the project as it was originally laid out is mystifying.

Typically two national events at the same track in one year means one of them is financially good and the other is so-so at best.
With a 4 wide track, one can be 2 wide traditional and the other can be a 4 wide Barnum and Bailey show.
There is a paying audience for both and many will attend both.
Making money isn't a sin.
Not making money with what you've been blessed with...

Exactly. We'll get a glimpse of whether Brutons gamble was a good one or not in a few weeks.

It will be very unfair to judge if it 4-wide is a good game after one weekend. Charlotte didn't start having huge crowds for a few years. It might take time for Vegas to build the same momentum.

But this is Vegas where everybody already lives "in" the circus.
NC is serious NASCAR country and you don't joke about racin'.
A 4-Wide wasn't a natural fit there, but 4-Wide sure is in Vegas!
The Pro teams already know how to stage and race 4-W now.
It's a horse race with only 4 horses in the starter gate.
Put me down for $20 on John Force to finish.
With any decent marketing at all, I expect a homerun!

That's why I used the word "glimpse".
