The intended purpose of this design has been questioned by the competition since it was unveiled.....and NHRA Tech should have investigated the claims before approving it. To disallow it now, with three races to go looks bad.

What was the great G.Lite statement, "you can't trust your optical evidence", or something like that. It appears he puts a lot of trust in his "optical evidence".

Good article---personally, I would have let DSR run the canopies for the rest of the season, then banned them so we didn't have to hear any whining if it cost a DSR car the championship.

It seems obvious the intent of the canopies were not for safety--I kept scratching my head as well, but I'm no rocket scientist.

As far as crying about AJ---isn't that calling the kettle black? Give me a break---where was all the crying when AJ was producing World Championship after World Championship for DSR?

NHRA admitted they made a mistake of "taking someone's word and not doing their homework." Lesson learned and move on---if you need some tissue, let me know.

Default Does this mean Silly Season is underway?

Will we see a response printed from AJ, Bernstein, and/or Force?

You approve a design and then disapprove because an "expert" decides it could be an advantage, just by looking at pictures.

If I had spent over 100,000 on something, they approved it, and then tell me it wasn't legal. Rat, 100,000 is a lot of money to throw away. at least in my neck of the woods it is.

I must be objective, but as a mathematician -- this doesn't add up.
Where is the "like" button.

It's already in the works, we had to eventually go to bed sometime last night.

I have got to go with the Don on this one too...

But the analytical side of me wants to ask, how much worse could that fire have been with out the shroud?
It was not proved it did not work, and it was not proved it was an advantage.
At least as I see it.

This is the bottom line, when it was legalized it was legalized for all teams not just DSR. If it is a performance enhancement and I had a TF team, I'd have one on my dragster.

Also, who's to say that it doesn't work?

Maybe Antron would have been severley burned without the device, who knows???

I thought it was an attempt to get an advantage from the first pictures of it.

I thought it was a safety issue when Tony was on fire and he said he never even realized the motor was hurt.

I knew it was a safety issue when a DSR dragster went up in flames and the shroud caught the flames in the cockpit with no place for them to go.

Money to design in, lets see, DSR builds chassis now, and you are actually saying that wrapping a piece of sheet metal around a roll cage costs alot of money? Thats four tabs for Dsuz fasteners and aluminum. If they made a wood mold for carbon fiber its still not 100 grand. That money spent was all wind tunnel with the universities they worked with to get better undisturbed flow to the hat.

NHRA should have outlawed it when the flames entered the cockpit the first time. Approving safety concepts is nhras job. Stopping them when they see drivers engulfed in flames is also their job.

If one of these ever goes upside down and pins a driver in longer because of that tall windshield nhra will ban that too. Its clear as day of what might happen in that perfect storm accident, just because it doesnt happen doesnt mean it never will.
