Yes, Don drove that car, but was in dragsters long before that time. I have seen films of Don in a dragster in the late 50s at Dunkirk NY.

Edit, this shot was taken at Dunkirk in the late 50s.

O K ...here goes per Big Daddy - A Career Pictorial Volume 1

1937 - Ford Dairy Truck - learned how to drive in 1946

1948 - Mercury Coupe - car that carried Me to meet Pat

Race Records - 1950 - 1954 -

6-50 E T 19.10 1940 Ford Cvt

52 - E T 17.10 1940 Ford Cvt

53 - E T 19.50 1950 Ford

53 - E T 15.00 1936 Ford

54 - E T 13.50 1927 T Roadster vs. Charlie Hogan

Point being.... a light of racing in NON Fuel Dragster before Swamp Rat # 1 in
1959.

Yes on page 41....Race Records mention Dunkirk NY ....a match race in Swamp Rat # 1 with MPH of 195.63 ....must have had no competition in Setto Postoian right ?

In post 11...I stated ...Don drove a 1963 426 Max Wedge.....I did not say that Don did not drive a fuel car.

You claim that He drove also a fuel dragster at the time You stated is also
documented.

Cool colors and Garlits

Thanks Gary, I thought it was just my eyes!

As to Don Garlits,
I moved to Florida with my parents in 1957, came down in a brand new 57 Chevy, boy do I wish I had that car now!
Anyway, Garlits was a seasoned pro in 57, I saw him in appearences at many Florida tracks, many of which are no longer. He always had his act together, and his cars were bare and lightweight. There was nothing that he didn't think he needed.
He is still one of the sharpest thinkers in the sport.

And please Jesus, do black or white ink please, My monitor is even crying!
