From Facebook.....

In 60 days, NHRA's year-long 60th anniversary celebration will arrive at historic Gainesville Raceway.

In addition to the 7,000-HP thunder from the Nitro-powered cars of today, fans attending the traditional "East Coast Season-Opener" will be treated to a walk through NHRA's rich and storied past highlighted by a car show featuring many of the classic dragsters from Don Garlits' Drag Racing Museum.

The race weekend will also feature a "Match Race" between Darrell Gwynn and Don Garlits in specially-modified electric dragsters.

Stay tuned here and on NHRA.com for more details about the exciting 60th-themed events/activities planned for the 2011 Gatornationals.

I fondly remember them running one another in the final round at the debut of the Texas Motorplex, 1986. Garlits won on a holeshot.

I fondly remember them racing in the finals of the US Nationals w/ Big in a car out of the museum and Gwynn in his first year of fuel.

I think Garlits has more win than ;loses against Darrell.Gar should win this with ease as he still competes occasionaly with his SS dodge.I hope it generates lots of money for Darrells wheel chair program.it was nice to see him at Bowling Green last year,His wheel chair progam is an awesome deal.
