Default #1 Track Shirt at Pomona

If it ain't too dang cold....or wet, when ya walk around the pits, hangin' out in the stands, take notice of what track t-shirt the fans wear most at Pomona.

Any guesses? It's an easy one, look around and see how many So-Cal fans wear shirts honoring and praising the greatest drag strip of all time!

LIONS DRAG STRIP!!!!

Even though I can't make the 2200 mile drive or flight yet again to Pomona after 40 years, I will wear a Lions shirt, thursday, friday, saturday and sunday.

Second will be O.C.I.R. shirts.

You should be nice and ripe by the time the Finals come on ESPN...

A neighbor of my grandmother's took me to Lions back in the late 60s and I can remember the track - even some of the cars running that night - to this day.

Hey TopFuel@Lions, you are probably correct about that. Especially with smart T-shirt printers producing new Lions t-shirts. I am still trying to convince myself that I did IN FACT attend Lions Dragstrip back in 1971 as my memory is so foggy from that time now that it seems like it may have just been a dream. I do know that I took off that summer and drove to California (from AZ) with the specific purpose of going to Lions and OCIR and I seem to recall only attending Lions. I made a couple trips to OCIR later on and that was close to being "Heaven on Earth" for a drag racing crazed fan in his late teens and early 20's. I also got into Ontario Motor Speedway on one of my visits to SoCal, but not during a drag racing event. They were testing or qualifying for an Indy car race though and it was way cool. Was the closest thing to Indianapolis Motor Speedway at that time, and I never thought that facility would be torn down in a million years.

Just got back from a couple of days gamblin' in Tunica,Mississippi. Listening to the NHRA broadcast as I type. Wearing a yellow Lions shirt, feeling kinda grim that I'm not watching the action at Parker Avenue.

I had on a black Lions shirt Thursday night in the casino, was playing roulette when a guy sits down next to me and comments about my shirt. Come to find out he lived in Signal Hill up until 1990 and went to Lions in the golden days. We went to some of the same events. We both were kinda schocked to find out that we both attended the greatest one day AA/FD race of all time, the 67 P.D.A. Small world sometimes.

From Mississippi to Alabama, the legend of Lions stays strong, as usual.

Just received an ORIGINAL , 1970's era O.C.I.R jacket and patch in the sealed plastic bag and an ORIGINAL, LIONS ash tray circa later 60's from a gate attendant that I found out lives in my town. What a X-MAS gift.

Lions was a special place, man. YOU get over it. Nowhere else in the country were there 32 car Top Fuel shows run on a Saturday night, at sea level!

Yep, Lions had Grand Americans (AHRA) and the 64car PDA meet , way better traction than OCIR, and... was 6 Miles closer to home than OCIR... OCIR did not get a National event Until OMS closed... they did have a divisonal, The PDA meet and The Mfg.Meet... Both Lions & The County were Better/ Nicer tracks than "The Parking Lot" in Poor-Moan-Ya in 60s and early 70's... FYI, The Strip @ OMS was Pit Road ... Put it another way, Lions was like my first piece, wasn't the prettiest, but man, she sure knew how to rock my world so great I've never gave up the sport. And 45 years later, I'm still doing both, even with both Lions & K.C. long gone...

I'm not living in the pass, just honoring and remembering it... Ya want to talk about Court's season last year?
