Probably about the same as watching 1000' because most fans can't see the cars after 1000' anyway.

I've noticed comments all around about this and there is a definite division. Either people love the idea or hate it. Not seeing many in the middle.

Thumbs down 4-wide

I think the first race will be attended well, however it will be interesting to watch future attendance numbers.
I DISLIKE it a lot.

Keep this FACT in your mind Yvonne. Those commenting on this topic - either on this or other forums or even social media represent MAYBE 5% of the demographic that would attend ANY NHRA Drag Race...... Here are a few STATS to back up this statement.

Competition Plus has an outstanding social media page - with more than 210,000 followers. Earlier this morning, the page posted an article about the 4-WIDE in Vegas, to which 370 people have clicked the "LIKE" Button. Of the multiple "emoji" options on this feedback button, 251 out of 370 have clicked the "LIKE" button, 70 have clicked the "ANGRY" button and 36 have clicked the "SADDY CRYING FACE" button. There have been nearly 147 comments posted in 12 hours, which is fantastic for a drag racing or any niche-sport social media page.

However, 30,000 people attended Charlotte on Saturday.....and Sunday.

30,000 vs. 370 is a bit more than 1%......

4-WIDE isn't made for the hardcore drag racing fan - it's for the casual fan.

4-WIDE is ALL ABOUT SHOW. I'm not a huge FAN of having these events be a POINTS event that would impact the championship - but for pure entertainment value, there isn't much to compare to the sheer volume of POWER at the hit of the throttle.

If you have a 4 wide track run all classes down the 4 lanes. During eliminations you are racing the person in the next lane and the winner comes back. Lane 1 is racing lane 2 and lane 3 is racing lane 4 and the two winners come back for the next round.

MAybe they learn from their mistakes.

When there are only two cars going down the track, why not use the two middle lanes. Put the real tree in the middle and another pair of trees between the outside lanes. yes, three trees.

Let some runs happen in the two outside lanes, seems like no prep racing is popular now. That keeps the cars 24 feet away from each other.
