Click here to see the 2012 order guide for the GT500.

http://www.mustangevolution.com/wp-c...OrderGuide.pdf

The last page notes the horsepower and torque. This is the SAME EXACT MOTOR that comes with the CJ Mustangs.

Horsepower: 550 6,200
Torque: 510 4,250

Would we be having this conversation if the car was an SS Camaro instead of the CJ Mustang I wonder?

Yes, we would, if Chevy produced a lightweight, severely under-rated psuedo-Stocker Camaro. 10 years ago, there were the LT-1 and LS-1 cars. They started out at the factory ratings of 275 and 305, respectively. The LT-1 is now rated over 350, and the LS-1 automatic is rated about 370. Most of us just hope it doesn't take 10-12 years for the new cars to be properly factored.

Sorry but your wrong. The Cobra Jets have bigger injectors and bigger Wipple supercharger, and other things. (I already said they make between 750 and 800 horsepower.)

The math doesn't lie figure the HP to get a 3600lb car go 148-153 mph in the quarter. It's a game and Ford is playing it better than the others right now.

Just make a FX class and move on.

Thanks for pointing that out. I agree with you with what Ford's doing. Just wanted to point out that Ford rates a very similar motor at 550 HP. Just shows the 430 rating is a complete joke.

A Whipple supercharger? This just keeps getting better and better (not). The new 512 cid, V-10 Viper motor has now been approved as well for the 2011 Challenger DragPaks. With better stats (compression, heads, cams, etc) than the Viper engine once rated near or above 500 hp, is now rated 450 NHRA. Might be the first 8 second Stocker run in 2011 by one of these abominations.

Since Willy asked for a truce I haven't kept up with with this thread. NHRA 450 rating is bizarre (I'm being nice) and I wonder why they bother. You're right, I think it's been factory rated at 500 for a long time.

I also noted the folks at CR are hard to get along with.
