Awesome pics ! Obviously the Snake isn't just sitting at home. The last pic is cool. Did one with my daughter down the shore at the boardwalk where she looked like she was holding the ferris wheel.

The final Bonneville meet of the year kicked off yesterday at the Cook Top Speed Shootout and Danny had some sort of incident:

Default For you Shaketown Dave!

WE DID IT!
450 MPH!

Speed Week 2018: The World's Fastest Piston Powered Car!

Quote:
On Sunday morning, eight years of hard work culminated in a 450.909mph return run. Averaged with yesterday's speed of 446.605mph, we achieved a new two-way AA/FS record of 448.757mph, enough to make us the world's fastest piston powered car. That has been the goal since day one of the project, and it wouldn't have been possible without the extraordinary efforts of my crew. The men and women who volunteered to join me on this crazy adventure are the reason for today's success. I can never thank them enough.

This was the talk of the shop yesterday.

Not WSoPM. Not Northern Nationals at Martin. This was.

Congrats Danny Thompson!

Talk about pucker factor when your almost full lock at 400mph

He definitely scrubbed some MPH in that maneuver. Could have been a 450mph average?

Default The 5 year journey is complete!

The Challenger 2 is Retired. Thank You All.

Quote:
This is going to be a long post, but it needs to start and end with a thank you. When I took the Challenger 2 out of storage eight years ago, I had a chassis, some bodywork, and a lot of half-baked ideas about how to resurrect my dadís old car as a world class streamliner. It was the hardest thing Iíve ever done, and it would have been impossible without the support and enthusiasm of racing fans all over the world. You helped me find my team, drove media interest, and made it clear to sponsors that we were a horse worth backing. My wife Valerie calls C2 the peopleís car, and thatís exactly how I feel about it. You all came on this journey with me, and Iíll always be grateful for that.

So what did I get out of this whole thing? As of today, the Challenger 2 is the fastest piston driven record holder.

Did his piston power record get beat already? I remember hearing of a turbine powered car going 483 last week:

... and how about Denise Mueller-Korenek... 183.9mph bicycle speed record!
