Not sure they can expand much there - there's a river that goes along one side of the track. Best bet would be a second race at Maple Grove if NHRA wants to replace E Town on schedule. Gonna really miss going to Englishtown. Been going since 1992.

I have no idea how likely this is to happen but I'd be thrilled to see it take place. VMP is a pretty nice track and a new surface will go a long way to improving the place. Fingers crossed.

Raceway Park "is one of the most fabled drag strips in America, and it ranks among the country's top five tracks"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Br...p_Raceway_Park

"We are looking forward to still being here and running some great races with our many other activities. We thank everyone for the years of support in drag racing. From our employees to our fans and racers to our sponsors and community we thank all of you."

btw, so far 9 events unsponsored for 2018, Englishtown was one of them.

What about a national event at Atco Raceway? Do they have the same problem with neighbors?

Oddly enough the NHRA website is still showing the E-Town event scheduled for June 7 thru June 10.

Beyond the parking, Atco would be a logistics nightmare... One road in... One road out...

Even if Lebanon Valley was able to make all the changes necessary to host a National event, it would also be a traffic disaster. Not to mention the po-dunk town (and inevitable speedtrap) you would have to pass through coming from I90.

Glendora meeting to reduce the 2019 schedule cancelled.

No more 4 races in 4 weeks.

It seems that NHRA almost has to have this race and it needs to be somewhere near the I 95 corridor. It is too important to lose the base in the highly populated North East. Unfortunately existing facilities will be gun shy to spend what is needed to properly put on a race of this magnitude not knowing if they will get hit with the same resistance from the community when the whole area can see a massive inflow of income, but for how long. Stands and lights can be rented, but property and paving are a whole different thing. Out here when a new raceway was built, Cal Trans shut them down and told them they were responsible for the construction of off and on ramp expansion on I 5 as well as surface road improvement. Then there was a problem with enough lodging as well as eating facilities. They got it worked out, but it took a year, which almost broke them first. It is strange (don't know the circumstances) that this comes so late in the planning for the years operations. Businesses today normally have a plan and contracts are signed for the year way before the middle of January.
