Wow, a burst fracture is no joke. He is lucky it wasn't worse.

Its a long story but the heart of the matter is that I jumped from the top of a fence, landed wrong, and got a compression fracture in one of my vertebra. I suspect that it was very similar to what Tony has. He's lucky there was help nearby. I laid on the ground for almost a hour and then had to get back over the fence....

Almost 4 years later, the last chapter has ended and this sad book is finally closed:

Tony Stewart, Kevin Ward Jr.'s family settle wrongful-death suit
ESPN - Bob Pockrass

"Five weeks before trial, Tony Stewart and the parents of Kevin Ward Jr. have agreed to settle the wrongful-death lawsuit against the three-time NASCAR Cup champion."

My only question is - Why would Stewart even stab the throttle while under a caution flag? Isn't that alone a rule infraction? It's certainly not driving cautiosly.

BUT there is a rule that unless you are on fire, a drive must stay in the car till track help arrives for your own personal safety and he had previous warnings

I haven't seen the video in a long time now and, even then, only watched briefly. I remember that what Tony may or may not have done was far from conclusive. I also remember that it was shot from the opposite side of the track and the audio did not reflect what was happening.

I also cannot let go of the fact that a whole bunch of LEO looked into this far, far deeper than any of us and came up with nothing to charge Tony with.

It is very sad for the family. But the kid got out of his car on a dusty track with cars on it.
