That's a first class article. Good job by Whitt getting real emotion and no B/S answers. Keep him up to this next year.

I'll be nice and not share my prediction on how long this lasts.

I enjoyed reading this, hope it keeps up through 2018. Of course if Whit were to replace Tony in the booth, that would be better

Its curious that he points out twice he would've won the Championship if the countdown had been in place but then he goes on to imply those who have won it that way didn't really earn a Championship.

Bonus points if you can tell me which 2 years Whit would have been champ because in all of my math I can't find it. He wouldn't have been close in 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, or 95. He sat out the end of 96 with a broken leg (Dale Pulde won Dallas in his car.) Force won 4 of the last 6 races in 97. He wasn't close in 98, Force won 4 of the last 6 again in 99. He was way off in 2000. He would have still lost to Force by 39 points in 2001. Wasn't close in 2002. Tony Pedregon would have still beat him in 2003. Wasn't close in 2004 or 2005. Got the boot after Indy in 2006 and didn't even run the final races. Didn't win the original Countdown in 2007 in TF. Where does he think he won it?

As you accurately point out Baze wouldn't have won a championship under any points format.

Bazemore also said that Capps would have won a "normal", Pomona to Pomona championship in the Countdown era, which is also BS.....
