I was wondering the same thing. The car has been performing pretty good and Eric has learned his trade from some of the best crew chiefs at JFR and DSR. Plus I know that at least one of his crew members came from DSR. I don't know where you would get any more of an experienced crew then JFR or DSR. At Vegas they went to the semi finals.

Tasca .057 / 3.96------Jonnie Lindberg .075 / 5.02

Tasca .066 / 3.94------Ron Capps .066 / 3.96

Tasca .053 / 3.95------Matt Hagan .075 / 3.92

I think he means a "force" type personality someone the people will flock too.

I'd say Tasca represents himself and his business just fine. He likes to drive and I'm sure he and his family would take their marbles somewhere else if they weren't enjoying running things the way they are.

He said a more experienced driver and crew. The bottom line is that Bob enjoys driving and the team is doing pretty good. Plus, there will never be another John Force personality.

That would be awesome, but Hight tries real hard.and Leah does a crappy JF. maybe they wont be any more slo mo tv shots of the Force girls putting on their firesuit while flipping their hair.Free up some airtime.... None of the current Funny cars look like anything except vaguely each other so it doesn't have to 'look' like a Ford as much as being slippery. I was wondering will there be a reemergence of a FORD TF engine like Force had/tried?

Probably the same time the Dodge and Chevy start looking like a Dodge and a Chevy.

So you're saying that Ford did not commit factory engineers and aerodynamicist's to design and wind tunnel test this body? They just copied another design?

I didn't imply any of that. But they more than likely said "hey that's a good idea" and used it as part of their baseline.

Only "credit" taken is for applying it to production car V8. Who's engine did Kieth Black, Brad Anderson, Alan Johnson and others choose to duplicate?

Perfecting it in a production car V8??
1951-58 Hemi's were almost boat anchors on the street. In the early years of NASCAR, Dodges were typically at the back of the pack. In 1953 the Hemi boys won 6 races to the smaller cubic inch, flathead, 6 cylinder Hudson's 22 races. (Hemi 331 cu.in. vs. Hudson's 308 flathead 6.)

Yep, throw nitro at a Hemi on the drag strip and it became the hot setup for the early Top Fuel cars as long as the can wasn't tipped too far.

But the early Hemi's weren't the perfect passenger car motors and Plymouth didn't even want one till the second gen came out after a 6 year absence of Hemi's from 1958 to 1964. (You small block Chevy guys might have something to say here...)

Second gen. Hemi was better and beat the Fords and Chevys on NASCAR's big tracks... (with their late 90's Top Fuel style wing and a "no-sale" nose.) They were great in the Barracuda's and Cuda's until the phony gas crisis and the insurance companies killed all automobile engine power levels back to lawn mower numbers. (You remember, when our government funded scientists said in 1972 that we were going to run out of oil world wide in 1984 if we didn't give up our big blocks... and even our small blocks... so everybody must switch and drive Vega's. )

But if the Hemi by Chrysler was "perfect" why did they wait 32 years to bring back version 3 or "gen 3" and then bring it back more as name branding than a real hemi headed motor?

Yep, today's version is a great passenger car motor... it's just not a true hemi head. Great marketing and great motor though.

And yes, derivatives of the Chrysler Hemi are fantastic drag racing nitro motors that nothing has topped... Even John Force's Ford copy.
