Default Drag Racing Quotes and Other Tall Tales

Hey All,
There are so many wise, funny, smart and downright genius words and life statements that come out of our beloved sport. I thought I'd start a thread where you can add your favorite quotes or stories. This could include past and present things that make you laugh, cry, think or just be in awe of. I hope you share along with me.

Yvonne

"Diligence of the sport's devotees, who compete for enjoyment rather than monetary reward, has kept the sport wholesome, respected and successful. The guy to watch out for is the conniver who would exploit your sport by dangling prize-money inducement before the eyes of unwary contestants"

Wally Parks, August 1956 issue of Hot Rod magazine.

Larry Morgan's T Shirts with Ron White's "You can't fix STUPID" on them referring to a Pro Stock rule that got him a $5,000 fine from a thin skinned NHRA official.

"Now, I don't know about you, but if I were breaking into a building and putting someone out of business, I wouldn't chop a hole in the side of it in the middle of the night, I think that would be a little noisy, wouldn't you? I think I'd just burn the place down."

"But they had a hole chopped in the side of their building, with some really quiet chain saw, or a bulldozer, or something really quiet like that, and went in there and damaged all the engines --but not the trailer, not the cars, not the transmissions, and not the machinery. Isn't that strange?"

Jerry Eckman to Car & Driver magazine on the Wayne Co. Speedshop break-in following his team being busted for N2O...
