Default Asking a favor for an old racer

I'm asking for a favor although it is not really for me but for my dad.

My dad is suffering with prostate cancer and without going into too many details, I will just say it is a miserable, dignity-crushing way to spend your remaining time.

Dad is an old-school gear head that gave me my love for all things mechanical. A machinist by trade, dad ended his career managing the entire machine shop and sheet metal fabrication area of a large defense company.

But dad is also a drag racer. We slowly morphed a 71 Corvette (original 454, auto and T-tops) into a 10-second/130 mph race car. We spent tons of time agonizing over setting up the Holleys and learning about chassis pre-load. The only work we didn't do ourselves was the machining of the motor and some of the welding on the frame. We spent many, many Saturdays and Sundays at the Westhampton dragstrip on Long Island back in the day. When we weren't working on the car, we were talking about the car. And if we weren't working or talking about the 'Vette, we were talking about drag racing in general.

The favor I am asking for is if you all could find some time to send dad a card. Maybe a picture of your current race car? Pretty much anything will bring a little brightness to his day. You can say that Frank sent you.

Please write dad at:

Joe Piambino
333 Hade Hollow Road
Cooperstown, New York 13326

Thank you
