I have had a beard since it filled in when I could not grow one. But eventually it becomes a safety issue with the respirators they wear during warmup since they will not seal around facial hair. As far as the fire hazard, its probably covered enough, but I would prefer to smell hair burning before my face was on fire anyway.

I remember reading something after Lyle Barnett's accident that his thick beard may have actually saved part of his face.
