Default Mickey Thompson's Return

THOMPSONLSR: Resurrecting Mickey Thompson's Streamliner
by Danny Thompson

On the 50th anniversary of his father's original run, Danny removed the Challenger II from storage and brought it to his Huntington Beach shop. Untouched for almost forty-five years, he began the extensive process or restoring, retrofitting, and updating the vehicle. Danny wants to lay his father's business to rest. For him, that means taking the Challenger II, a vehicle that hasn't run since 1968, to the salt flats at Bonneville and going at least 450mph.

That's what it will take to break the piston driven world land speed record. To get there, we need Kickstarter's help:

I read that elsewhere. It's great to see this effort, though I have mixed feelings about Mickey's Challenger II no longer being original. But since the decision has been made and they are carrying on with it, I'll be 100% behind Danny. I'll go visit the site and contribute to the cause. I was a big fan of Mickey's when I was a kid and was always amazed at how fast he managed to go.

Of course, the person responsible for mounting wheels and tires for this kind of car... the driver!
