Well, i like many of the bands listed here by others, but one artist I've not seen and most of you have probably never heard of since she not very well known in the US, that I'm a big fan of is Tarja Turunen. She's originally from finland and sings both classical music and rock. Being from finland the "j" is pronounced more like an "i" or "y". So, her name is pronounced more like "Taria". She was the former lead singer in the finnish symphonic metal band nightwish, but they fired her in a rather nasty way and I have never forgiven them. Anyway, here's a few youtube clips of her.

Two girls that are really holding it down in the country world are Maren Morris and Kacey Musgraves.

I will have to look them up and give them a listen.
Not a huge country fan, but I do like some once in a while.

I was just listening to Ten Years After. Alvin Lee sure could play the guitar.

On the Country subject, Brad Paisley is a kick butt guitar player.

On the other end, youtube a guy named "Nathan East" incredible bass player who wrote a ton of bass lines for many, many big artists.

LOL - There's a saying in the rock and roll industry about young mediocre musicians - "Don't worry kid, there's always Nashville."

Man, 2016 has been absolutely brutal with the amount of talented musician deaths...
... and now another as former drummer Nick Menza collapsed and passed away during a show with OHM last night in Studio City, CA. He was 51.

2 fantastic tunes when they were on Letterman:

One of the biggest rock-n-roll bands celebrates a birthday today.

Kids today are raised on cellphones. In 1986, I was Raised On Radio!

Happy 30th birthday. btw, yep, it's a real place:

I agree about the cellphone thing with the kids nowadays! Can't get my daughter off of mine or my wife's!

I remember when I was young, I'd Listen to A.M. radio.
Ask a kid nowadays what that is or what a rotary phone looks like. LOL.

Speaking about deaths... How about Lemmy from MotorHead?
Seems like they are dropping like flies.

A friend told me a while back, Before the age of 40, you goto weddings and after the age of 40 you goto funerals. Totally makes sense if you really look at it.

Ok, Carry on with the positive end of this thread.

25 YEARS AGO TODAY, Like Beatlemania, Nirvana arrived and changed everything. They introduced the instant hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit" two weeks prior to today's "Nevermind" album release in 1991. The album started at #144 on Billboard, broke the top 40 in November, and reached #1 in January. In only a few months, much of the hair metal and hard rock that had commanded the 80's airwaves was being phased out in favor of the “grunge” style often attached to Nirvana. Album's recording is now housed at the Library of Congress.

Because there is maybe 10 active members here and not much going on. So someone just wanted to start a topic for general discussion. You have looked at the NHRA forum? Not exactly busy.

What sucks is, Someone told me years ago, Before the age of 40 you go to weddings and after the age of 40 you go to funerals.

It's totally true because now you notice more people in your era passing away.
Sorry for the downer but it's true... Look at how many people have passed that we older folks recognize.

RIP April Wine bass legend Steve Lang

    Guitarist/vocalist Brian Greenway:

“It is with great sadness that I let you know that Steve Lang passed away last Saturday. I was in many bands with Steve. Steve was the bassist of April Wine 1975 to 1984. All the big hits. Steve also did very well as a Financial Investor with his own company. He was a friend of 50 years. Steve was 67. My sincere condolences to his family.”

Trailer just released of #Babymetal's performance in front of 110,000 at the Tokyo Dome. That stage is 80's old school huge!

These three girls (and band) have emerged as one of the more awesome live acts going over the last few years, opening more shows for Red Hot Chili Peppers and signed on for select shows with Korn, Metallica, and Guns N’ Roses, so the music world is definitely standing up and taking notice.
