It's amazing that the trouble that they go through to hide the body lines.
You Never saw that many years ago when the were running the '76 Nova or the Citation through their paces.
If you look at most if not all SUV's today, They all look pretty much the same body lines and contours except for the make and model badges on them kinda like Pro Stock and T/F Funny car.
... no word on what was ordered, definitely somethin' cheap.

"The C7 that actually crossed the auction block isn't the actual car that the lucky new owner will receive, as it hasn't been built yet; the car at Barrett-Jackson is an identical Z06."

They won't be cheap. My dads best friend has two dealership a Honda and a Chevrolet. He has a Corvette now that he drives once in a great while.
I am sure his diehard Corvette customers will have these and he will order one for the showroom. He is car collector. You know Rick Hendrick has his order in already for his production numbers.
Really don't see what all the fuss is about. Mid engine sports cars have been around for more than half a century. Even Ford has one. This will just tip GM off the domestic sports car sales map, same as Ford with their GT thing and the Dodge formally known as Viper. This is an interesting design idea but if the price is even futher out of whack than the C7 was only a few will make to the people who would really appreciate them and the rest will be trophy cars for people who couldn't drive one to the end of their driveway without wrecking it. Oh my cynicism.
I heard next year there will be some good deals on used C7's when the first-mid-engine-fanatics trade theirs in.
What happened to GM,s love of pushrods? I guess they have seen the light. The advantages that Fords "little" DOHC 302 show are too big to ignore. I wonder if they come with an Italian horn necklace...……...
There's some good deals on C7s right now. New 2019 models can be had for under 50 grand, nearly as cheap as a similarly optioned Camaro SS.
Well they are getting closer to what they are worth. Probably can get them down another 10K to 20K and GM will still have a decent profit margin. Amazing how the ficitious bs that the dealers start with at the beginning of the model year, no margin here, dwindels away.

Haven’t really paid a ton of attention to this car, as it will never be in my price range, but a cursory search of the web shows it being an OHV engine. The Coyote is certainly impressive, but the monstrous size can’t be ignored either. That may be a detractor in the mid engine placement?
New corvette starts at under $60K. 7% more than the current car's base price of $55,900.
Of course, options can run it over $100K. Manual is gone, only an 8 speed dual-clutch automatic.

Interesting to read the comments / predictions from before the announcement. "It will be 90K..shame on GM for making it unobtainable!" "Old technology just repackaged" (?) and yes the death of the manual. Of course there are few manual transmissions available in competitors anymore. I'm driving Corvette number 23 since 1967 (advantage of being a GM dealer for awhile) and eventually I'll have one of these if I can stay alive. The other interesting data: This car will break the 3 second to 60mph barrier. Even if it's just 2.99sec - this is the base car. The C7 Z06 and ZR1 were barely under 3 sec. So the upscale powered cars will be amazing - and brings credence to the frame twisting rumors in higher powered test cars.
