Currently working with a manufacturer to produce a safe 300mph tire.
The 270mph, 1,400hp Venom GT (4 years ago) had a drag of .44. This new American made F5 has 1,600hp and a drag of .33

Bugatti Chiron Passes 300-MPH Barrier with 304-MPH Run, Sets World Record
By Mike Duff Sep 2, 2019
Ever since the Bugatti Chiron was launched, with a 261-mph speed limiter, we've been desperate to know what it could manage if let off the leash. Now Bugatti has done that at the vast Ehra-Lessien test track in Germany; the car smashed both the production-car record and the 300-mph barrier.

Wiki excludes it from its record books. Doesn't consider it "production enough", lol

Supercar Blondie exclusive on the first 300mph car. They're actually thinking of preserving the bugs, LOL
Wow!
Well, looks like it's time to sell...
VW Getting Rid of Bugatti Makes a Lot of Sense
Selling Bugatti to Rimac sounds nuts, but I'm not sure what else VW could do with the brand.
By Mack Hogan Sep 17, 2020
"The report that Volkswagen is selling Bugatti to upstart EV maker Rimac sounds absurd on the face of it. Getting control of 49 percent of Rimac sounds valuable, but enough to give up Volkswagen's crown jewel? Nonsense. Until you consider that, really, VW has no use for Bugatti anymore. "

WOW! That's insane! Just incredible. Built here in WA by the way ;)
Gotta hope there's a LOT of sneeze factor built into the steering at those speeds!
He's sitting pretty close to the wheel too.
BTW on stock Michelin tires!! Filled with nitrogen :)
To say that the previous week was a hectic and stressful one for SSC North America would be an understatement.
PERSONAL STATEMENT straight from the founder Jerod Shelby about the SSC Tuatara top speed record run and the controversy surrounding it...
... and a RERUN!
The saga of the infamous $1.6 million 'world's fastest car' continues with a bizarre failed second speed run.

The 1,750 HP SSC Tuatara Sets a Production-Car Speed Record—This Time for Real
The Robb Report - Viju Mathew Wed, January 27, 2021, 8:01 AM
On January 17, while many of us had our eyes glued to the NFL playoff games, Dr. Larry Caplin focused on a 2.3-mile stretch of concrete at the Kennedy Space Center’s Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds in Merritt Island, Fla. There, on the same runway formerly used for space shuttle landings, Caplin took his own SSC Tuatara hypercar to a new production-car speed record, recording two passes in opposite directions averaging 282.9 mph—a feat officially announced this morning by SSC North America.
The accomplishment eclipses the former 277.87 mph benchmark set by the Koenigsegg Agera RS in 2017. Bragging rights nearly went to Bugatti in August of 2019, when a Chiron charged to 304.77 mph. Unfortunately for the French marque, the car was not a production version, and it only traveled in one direction (two are officially required).
From R/T:
SSC Tuatara Hits 282.9 MPH at the Kennedy Space Center
On the 2.3-mile space shuttle runway, the Tuatara hit 286.1 MPH in one direction, and 279.7 in the other, averaging out to 282.9.
BY CHRIS PERKINS JAN 27, 2021
"peaking to Road & Track, Dr. Caplin confirmed that SSC engineers limited boost from the twin-turbo V-8 in all but the top of seventh gear, hence why you see the car accelerate hard at the very end of its runs. The Tuatara was designed to build up to its top speed more gradually than to do a quick blast, so there were some concerns about heat management. (Dr. Caplin also said the car had wheelspin through third.) This was a test for a future run, once engineering work is complete ensuring the car can get up towards 300 mph without overheating. Dr. Caplin believes that 300-plus mph is possible on the Kennedy runway.
More from our interview with Dr. Caplin is coming later."

SSC Tuatara speed record explained, controversies and all (businessinsider.com)
SSC founder Jerod Shelby confirmed the plans to run the Nürburgring:
“We actually are looking at [running the SSC Tuatara at the Nürburgring],” Shelby told Muscle Cars & Trucks. “We’re talking to a group about Nürburgring, and that will be one of our next focuses after top speed. We do understand that is an extreme challenge. I think anybody that says ‘we’re gonna go down there and set a great lap time,’ I think they’re crazy. I think it’s such an extreme and technical track. You gotta have the right driver, you gotta have a great vehicle, and you do a lot of tuning and testing there, because it’s not a smooth track.”
