What does this mean for Langdon?
good to have another full time team. Hope Langdon isn't going away
Great to hear Alexis will be back for the 2020 season. Looking forward to see who her sponsorship will include. I wonder if her husband Jesse James will still have a pretty active roll with the race to race duties.
Great news that someone is jumping in rather than leaving.
Any speculation on the primary sponsor?
Indeed this is wonderful news! That they are going to be an independent team makes it even more outstanding, especially with Del Worsham and Nick Boninfante heading up the effort of these gnarly die hard racers!
Doesn't sound like it will be a "Kalitta" team car
Most likely.... Daddy, again. Probably won't be with patron though.... he sold out to Barcardi.
She must jave convinced Del and Nicky that she's in it for the long haul for them to quit Kalitta.
My guess is the team will operate out of the Worsham facility.
Big sticker or small, don't be surprised to see a "leaf" somewhere on the car from her business she got heavily involved in when she wasn't drivin'.
Talking about this? https://www.marketwatch.com/press-release/mastronardi-produce-and-john-paul-dejoria-announce-partnership-to-revolutionize-fresh-food-availability-2019-03-13
Nah, the other leaf that her and her husband invested into big time and are going global with it. Not for legal CBD, but for dispensaries in the legal states. She was on (I think) RFO radio several months ago and talked about what she was doing during her hiatus. Now that CBD is the big craze, they may have ventured into that as well.
Interesting. I found nothing on Google about that.
WFO Radio not RFO (still can't edit older post)
I did a quick search too and can't find it. It was definitely one of the drag radio shows before the forum was shut down and it was one of, if not the first interview after "retirement". I was going to post it, but I decided not to due to content. The interview is out there somewhere.
From a Dec. 11 NBC Sports interview:
DeJoria will announce her primary sponsor just before Christmas, a company brand new to NHRA drag racing. When the new season begins, she will be looking to add to her five career wins, including capturing the prestigious U.S. Nationals in 2014.
“I know exactly what I want to accomplish,” DeJoria told NBC Sports. “I have a very different feeling now going into the next season. The vibe is very different. This is an opportunity I really just couldn’t pass up and I’m really excited to do this. I’m not going to put too many expectations on myself with it being a new team, new car and everything. Obviously, we’re all well-versed and have spent a lot of time out there, Nicky, Del, myself, the guys on the crew, but it’s a new team so it’ll take time. We’ll do okay the first year. If we win a race, I’ll be totally excited. But with a new team, everything getting together, I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself, we’re just going to do everything the right way and kind of creep up on it.”
Her return in 2020 will mark DeJoria’s seventh full-time season in Funny Car. But there will be a significant difference: she won’t be able to look alongside her race car into the opposite lane and see longtime friend and friendly rival Courtney Force who shocked the NHRA and its fans when she went on a hiatus just before the 2019 season began. DeJoria will now be the only full-time female driver in Funny Car. When asked if perhaps her own return may spark Force to come back soon, DeJoria demurred.
“If and when she comes back, it’s definitely not going to be any time soon,” DeJoria said of Force. “She’s still very much a part of John Force Racing, but as far as her getting back in the seat, I don’t think that’s going to happen soon, no.”

Props To Todd Blakely there on the right with his back to the camera. A longtime "hidden hero" crew member, behind the scenes; who has become Del Worsham's capable assistant.
