Bret Kepner stated on another website:

It was announced today the American Hot Rod Association has lost one of its greatest competitors. Springfield, Missourian, Joe Williams, winner of multiple AHRA World Championships and dozens of Grand American National Event titles in a variety of Eliminators, has passed. Joe will be remembered for his ingenuity, his amazing driving talent and his undying love of the AHRA and its mission.

As usual, Bret gets it right.

  • I saw him at several races. Wasn’t he the one who cut a V-8 in half and stuck it in an altered?

RIP Joe.....you had a lot of fans and you made a difference.
