“I definitely had some visions of Roy when I pulled up to the start line in that car,” Tasca said with a smile.
On another run this week, they should get Roy Hill up there to pull him into the beams, and on the radio saying get your head out of your a$$... 😁
700 amps?? Wow that would fry anything that came in contact with it. DC or AC? I would think DC since its easier to control at low rpm.
Video from NHRA FB of Tasca vs Tony at Indy:
DC. I had a great talk with the main engineer. It recharges in 10 minutes with a 30K generator and he thinks it could have 2 03 passes on a single charge. He also said it went 8.27 @177 in testing! And get this... it weighs 5,000# ! This is the same company that beat Garlits to 200 in a dragster. He said he wrote to Don six months before they broke the about teaming up together but never heard back from him.
I thought it was dumb of them to run it next to gas car the gas car becuase I dount anyone knew what they were watchin becase the gas car was so loud. It was hard to hear the announcer in the PA explaining what was going on. It would have go a lot more attention if would have made a sigle, ultra quiet run.
It's also got a unique "torque converter" set up. They did their initial testing at WHP in February (after the National Event). The first time that thing got on the brake once staged, I literally did a double take. The car made about a dozen runs - eventually getting into the 8's at 160+. That car has a TON of potential and is an engineering marvel.
0-60 in under 2 seconds. Over 200mph
