The U.S. Nationals at Indy is coming Labor Day weekend. This is still the greatest race in auto racing. If you haven't been to this race you need to get there. I've been to this race about 15 times and nothing compares to it.
Well, without Monday, this year will be one day less great At least they've confirmed that this won't be a new normal and Mnodays will be back beginning in '22.
Pretty sure this will be my 28th. This will be the 70th. I think I figured out that I will have to not miss one until I'm 72 to be able to say that I've been to half of them.
Hope Scrappers brings back the Blaine wrap.
25th anniv. of his passing.
Good for you Hemi. Even without Monday it is a great race.. I'm impressed with the number entries in the sportsman and professional racers attending this great event.
Yeah... ooops. I thought I someone on these threads or elsewhere said it was. I was moving stuff around the other day and found my 50th Program and saw that it was in 2004! So yeah... you beat me to correcting myself.
No problem - had one of those days once! <G>!
Today brings eerie memories of 16 years ago. I remember talking to people that Katrina chased north while at a hotel in Bowling Green while staying there for the D3 divisional. Then hearing of stories of racer's from the area that made it to Indy despite of their homes and businesses being damaged or destroyed. I think some hadn't even been home yet to survey the damage. I suspect this will be talked about some over the coming week. I sure hope damage is minimal at Savoie's place.
It's terrible down south but will only be a rain storm once it moves northeast. Should be off the east coast by Thursday.
30% on Sat.
AWESOME! About time! It's always been HOT and MUGGY!
Should be comfortable. Chance of a shower Sat. morning. But I don't think the pros start still about 2 PM>
Been going to the NATIONALS since I was 6 this will be number 52 for me
WOW!! Love to hear that!
Pic I took at Indy 1993 (click on pic to enlarge)
Wow! If you just went for 3 days each year you have been there a total of 156 days or... 5.2 months! Or 208 days / 7 months at 4 days each trip!
I figure I've spent 112 days / 3.7 months there at IRP with some divisional events added in. Then about another 30+ to the Indy in general or so for various conventions like PRI and when I crewed for my friend's monster truck at the 4x4 jamboree and the RCA Dome for total of about 142 / 4.7 months. For 2 or 3 years I was going there 5 times a year. I actually had Indy radio stations in my radio presets. Thankfully Ohio converted route 24 from a 2-lane road to a full blown highway about 10 years ago. That took 20 minutes off the trip!
I'm in the 150+ day club too!
LOL ummmm.. don't you live there in Indy?
Did they remove part of stands on the hot pit side. It looks shorter??
what's the "hot pit side"?
The side where they use to park nitro.
No - 250 miles away in Illinois.
After looking at past years I was wrong. The stands are exactly the same.
