It's neither... Just a good move by a good driver to try and make something happen.
Dry hops would be cool though.
The NHRA would do well by hiring an unsponsored racer to come do throttle wacks between a few rounds per day and then some dry hops just prior to the final rounds of nitro. Or maybe even invest in their own equipment and put a racer in the car for the dry hops. Throttle wacks wouldn't even require a whole car. The engine could just be mounted to some sore if fixture, like maybe a section of and old chassis.
Several years back at the Texas Motorplex the Worshams brought out their brand new Blue Max FC replica, made a pass with it about 8pm which included two loud and powerful dry hops. The packed house lost its collective mind. Ran like a scalded dog, too, until it got away from Del at about 800 feet and he lifted.
I saw the show last night, and was "surprised" that Cped was butt hurt over JR's tactics at Indy just trying to get staged.
