hand writing was on the wall
Personally I think its about time, but Aaron Brooks. He's good but very up and down.
... almost a full race behind #9, very unusual from Kalitta camp during this time of year.
Maybe the crew chief isnt the problem. The whole team has struggled. Also last weekend doug double stepped it on the starting line. Didn't grubby get fired for doing that.
I have to agree, was hoping for alan johnson and his crew to part of kalitta?
Brooks took the Foley job last week now this
I wonder if this is a temporary thing as Foley was done racing for this season and was looking towards next season with Brooks. On the other hand, a full time gig with Connie vs a part time gig with Foley...
I combined all these quotes to say this... I was hoping for AJ too and maybe the Brooks deal is indeed just till the end of the year... so maybe there's still some hope that AJ with join the team next year.
If you watched the video of testing on Monday from Zmax, you would have seen Brooks turning the screw on the Mac car. Doesn't appear to be a rumor but fact....
I've said before I'm a Brooks fan. Sometimes a person's abilities and know how don't look obvious at first glance. When I see a CC/team performance that's up and down or inconsistent a lot of times its because they are actually trying things. I think the good CC's are not afraid to experiment and reap what they learn from what looks like not good performance. Reminds me of what Niki Lauda said about failures being more important than success in the realm of learning.
First rd. Q - #5 2 Doug Kalitta, Saline MI, Kalitta-AJPE 3.747 325.14 325.14
car was a handful he went about 1100 ft on that 1000 ft run
Prob has to adjust, every tuner handles diffrent.
Doug is the most experienced driver out there. He just needs a car that can run the numbers.
Couldn't make the top half of the field at this weekend's event (#9).
All things considered..... that's not too bad. Brooks is only working with what he was given. He may prefer some different bits of hardware and such. Give him some time and see what he can do.
Some can mistakenly think qualifying mid-pack is a bad thing. There are several teams/CC's who do it on purpose. Its good race strategy.
Once again could not make the top half of the field and a poor performance this weekend only winning E1 with a 188mph pass (nice RT) and then losing to Hogan's car.
I was looking for more out of Kalitta this weekend. Time to reevaluate the car again. Not sure how much of Brooks setup is in the car right now. Brooks historically has been very hot or ice cold so who knows.
Really hopimg the aj rumor ia true...
A racer I spoke to today indicated the rumor is true-AJ moving to Kalitta next year to give Doug one last chance for a title. Not sure if entire crew is moving or just AJ. AJ was not in Dallas this weekend.
Come on Aaron you can do it! Get them a win :)
Gotta wonder what Rob Flynn's thinking right now.
Doug's usually a 3.60 car at the beginning and end of the season when the weather's optimal. Shame to see both he and Langdon struggling to go rounds this year.
