  Not too bad but can you imagine if NHRA just had a portion of the Olympic ratings?

  the ratings always seem to drop off towards the end of the year. Is this because of football? If so, maybe they should experiment, running final eliminations on Saturday and see what happens!

  Last year, except for the spike in Seattle, it fell off the cliff before the NFL started:

  NHRA's third race of the year being the lowest rated and Gainesville's precipitous fall the last 3 years I've been keeping up with it (maybe more if I had time to dig up 2014 and older data).

  Atlanta numbers are in and although the Friday live qualifying show didn't crack the top 150, Sundays prime time show has the numbers NHRA was finally eager to see this year... 956,000.
  Almost 600,000 from last year.
  Still having a hard time attracting the young viewer$ though.

  Topeka Sunday rain 2 pm show drew 328,000 for the first 34 minutes (71,000 ages 18-49). Once again, thanks 257,000 old timers.
  Topeka now makes it 5 out of the 8 races run so far that are the lowest Fox ratings since they took over.

  I don't know if moving Chicago's event several weeks improved attendance at the track, but it sure helped in viewership. The highest since Fox started it and since the last ESPN show:

  Last year, it was in E-Town and scored the highest ratings in NHRA history (1.6 million).

  Since Richmond this past weekend was race 10 of 18, I did some quick calculations on the first half of the years viewers:

  2015 (ESPN): 562,000

  There are a lot of crossover fans and the rain delayed NASCAR race airing at the same time is what killed NHRA's ratings in my opinion.

  I refuse to watch the TV broadcast. It’s horrible. But I’m not sure I’m going to renew my All Access subscription after this year either...

  While there are some aspects of the AllAccess live stream that I don't care for, that's not a factor on whether I will renew or not. For me renewal in 2019 will depend on the cost.
  
  Initially and in the second season it was $99 and it was discounted 10% to NHRA members.
  
  This season they jacked it up to $125 and discounted it 25% to NHRA members for a very limited time.
  
  Even as an NHRA member receiving the discount, that gave me pause. But I did subscribe.
  
  Another price increase and/or a lesser discount in 2019 will have me reconsidering.
  
  Lastly, for several reasons I can't stand the Fox/NHRA broadcast. If I don't subscribe to AllAccess, I simply won't watch.

  Not good... not good at all.
  
  After Epping, we are now at 8 out of the 13 races have been the lowest rated since Fox took over. After Epping, it's now race #3 of the lowest since the 2015 ESPN shows.
  
  Glendora may be celebrating and/or promoting sellout crowds, but when it comes to the TV viewing audience, it is not translating at all. 1/2 of the viewers left from the previous week, and 1.2 million watched Epping last year. This year only 374K, that is the lowest rated show at that event in the 4 years I've been logging it and tied with Virginia for the second lowest rated show of the year.
  
  Both Epping and Englishtown (now Virginia) had the highest rated record-breaking shows last year. This year, approx. 1 million viewers have left both shows:

  I have to suspect that summer has to have something to do with it. The weather in the North East has been really nice and it puts a big dent in my own TV viewing.

  If that's the case, then the North East, as well as the rest of the country, was absolutely brutal last 2 years to have over 800,000 to 1 million more viewers in a two week span than this year. Also, Epping was the third race this year with the lowest ratings since 2015 ESPN. The other two were Phoenix and Gainesville. Those were not in the summer.

  How many are DVR'ing it and watching it later? Do recorded shows get counted in the ratings?
