The apparent new ownership group spokesman in the article, Chris Winter stated:  “The other facilities are not going to impact the national event or impact parking.”

Wonder how far they are with NHRA negotiations in bringing a national event back to Maple Grove? Who loses theirs or will there be 25 per year?

Interesting assumption by Winters since the contract is still in the due diligence stage and has not closed. Was that a slip of the tongue?

Maple Grove did not lose their NHRA national event. That was Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ, so it's still a 24 event season...

Yeah, Maple Grove has always been fully operational.

We actually have a race track saturation issue in my area. Good problem to have, kind of. It seems no one is willing to negotiate their schedule so my local track (10 min from my house) is not running a bracket program this year. It seems no one here actually runs a weekly program like they used to so they were just trying to have a dozen or so bracket races for the season to qualify for the bracket finals.

It looks like Maple Grove is in good hands. Would hate to lose another track. I'll be back to get rained on in September. LOL

Motorsports Developers of King Prussia, Maple Grove Raceway deal falls through

Anthony Caruso III on May 2, 2020 | Publisher

Chris Winter, a partner with King of Prussia, Pa.-headquartered Motorsports Developers of King Prussia, has confirmed to The Capital Sports Report that the group’s proposed deal to purchase Maple Grove Raceway has been off the table since February. He said he cannot comment further on the situation because of a non-disclosure agreement.

At this time, the racetrack remains for sale. The original asking price for the NHRA-affiliated drag strip and additional buildings and amenities was $8 million.

However, a private source, who has requested anonymity, has indicated that Motorsports Developers of King Prussia, which also includes Joseph Casella and Jordan Levitt, remain interested in purchasing the facility near Reading, Pa. This group reportedly hopes to strike a deal with the current owners later this year.

Motorsports Developers of King Prussia had planned to make additions to the facility around the drag strip to allow multiple events for extra income.

Maple Grove Raceway first opened in 1962 as a 1/5th-mile dragstrip. Two years later, it was converted to its current quarter-mile length.

The NHRA has been hosting an event at this facility since 1985. Its 2020 edition has been moved to a two-day event and moved up a week in a revised schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Maple Grove (LODRS) divisional race, which was scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, has been postponed. No announcement has been made on when this event will take place, as the facility has been closed because of the stay-at-home orders in Pennsylvania.

In 2022, the track will celebrate its 60th-year anniversary.
